The Monett Church of Christ is involved in a mission effort in El Salvador. The following has been taken from a daily diary of one of the trips. My comments follow.
Lessons From LaPalma the Mission
After our operations meeting and devo, Fatima made the decision that she has struggled with for more than a year. In a heavy downpour of rain and amidst rejoicing in our team, she was baptized. Her decision will cost her greatly in that her family will disown her and she will lose her job. Jose and Jesus assured here that she will be able to find a job, and that she will be cared for as a member of the family of Christ.
This level of commitment is really what it takes to sell out to Jesus. It's easy to be a "Church goer", it's harder to commit your life to Him. Your life extends beyond Sunday & Wednesday. Has your decision for Christ cost you anything lately? This loss for the Lord means gain for God. We become useful instruments to Him. We become partakers in the mission of Christ. We can't embark on this mission without this level of commitment. The mission of Christ is not our assembly. He came to seek and save the lost. Our co-mission with him involves the same. The assembly is our time to worship God together. Our mission is the lost. Giving it all to God means we take up His agenda. A total sell out to Jesus. Interested?
