The Most Beautiful Flower

At age 5 my youngest daughter declared that the dandelions growing in our front yard "are the most beautiful flowers"!

As an adult, I have come to view these "flowers" as the nasty fast growing yard pests that they are! This made me wonder, what makes a weed a weed? So, I asked my brother-in-law, who works for the Missouri Soil & Water Conservation Dept, what exactly constitutes a weed. He said, "any unwanted plant" may be considered a weed. It is truly in the eyes of the beholder. What is a weed to me is a highly sought after plant by my little girl. Well, the eyes have it!

That day the dandelion moved into a different category for me. As I look across the sea of yellow in my yard, if I look through her eyes, I do see the most beautiful flowers instead of a weeds! The unwanted has become desired. What once I sprayed to destroy, I now hope will flourish. All because of a little girl who has captured my heart.

I mow less often now.

Think Like God Today!
