Tell Me The Story!

When my 3 year old Niece sees writing on a shirt or anything for that matter, she says "tell me the story"! I really like that request.

Our lives tell a story. As I meet people I need to remind myself that they have a story. Sometimes it's written all over their faces. The question is do I really want to know it.

Have you ever had a bad day? The kind where you could kick the cat just for being a cat? Those frustrating days. Those days that bring you to the breaking point. You have one last nerve and everyone is in line to stand on it? Yes, those kind of days. I hope they are few and far between, but they do exist. Sometimes this is happening to the drive thru clerk, the person with 11 items in the 10 item or less line, the slow driver in the high speed lane, the lady with 5 kids and no help (4 in the cart and 1 in the floor screaming). You get the picture. Under the stress and turmoil everyone has a story.

This reminds me of the woman at the well in John 4. Jesus was interested in her story. The highs and the lows. The difference between me and Jesus is that He already knew her story and was still interested. The question for me is will I be interested enough (in people) to ask them to "tell me their story"? The setting has to be right. Timing is an issue, but if I find those things working in my favor.......will I be interested enough to ask or will I be too self absorbed to notice the opportunity? Will I notice?

I'm going to be open to the opportunity today.

Have A Great Day!
