Even though Jesus says not to worry, it seems we still do. Why? Do we know something Jesus doesn't? Like worry actually helps us or worry keeps us on our toes for the unexpected?
Worry kills physically and spiritually.
Physicians tell us that chronic worry can lead to a host of physical ailments: heart attacks, high blood pressure, ulcers, gastrointestinal problems, muscular aches and pains, skin rashes, eczema, respiratory problems and asthma.
Worry can rob you of a vibrant spiritual life. It keeps you focused on things you can't control. It turns you into a faithless mess.

How do I control my worry? We often hear people say, "just stop worrying!"
Sounds simple, doesn't it?
I believe we control the physical through the spiritual.
"Train yourself in godliness, for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way" 1 Tim 4:7-8 (NRSV)
I learn to have faith. I learn to trust that God is able and willing to do what He says He will do.
Then, as I identify what I'm worrying about, I turn that worry into a prayer request for God and I leave it with Him. It keeps me from becoming a nervous wreck.
"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Phil 4:6-7 (NRSV)
Peace is the opposite of worry. The way we get peace is through our prayer lives. If we have no or little faith we won't pray....if we don't pray we have no peace.....get the picture?
Just remember, most likely it won't happen overnight. It is a process of learning to be full of faith instead of worry.
