We'll just remember the Jackson 5 and leave it at that.
I do have some final thoughts regarding the last post and then I'll leave this one alone.
I hope that the "Body of Christ" never looks to the world as MJ looks to us today. That would send a very confusing message about Christ.
To safeguard against this confusion God has given us some very instructive scripture.
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Our job is not only to get along, but to love one another (see 1 Cor 13 as to how this is made practical). You may not have figured out what "body part" you are, but you can start on this right away. If we do this everyone will know who we are.
Years ago I heard someone say this about the church, "I'm not going to go be with those hypocrites!" If we practice (1 Cor 13) Monday through Saturday, Sunday will not be an exercise in hypocrisy, but a celebration of Christ. If we don't we will appear as some freakishly distorted body that people shy away from. They will shake their heads in confusion and ask questions like, "why are they doing this to themselves?'
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature ; rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
Gal 5:13-15 (NIV)
Start today with your own family.....begin to practice loving one another. You don't need Shepherds or a committee to tell you to do this. You don't need some special meeting to implement this plan....just do it!
OK, let's all take a deep breath.....forget Michael Jackson.....remember Christ.
Have a great day!
