Learning Patience for God's Benefit (pt.1)

Have you ever stopped to consider if you pray for patience how God would answer that prayer? I'm like everyone in that I want to get patience the easy way.

I've heard people say, "I prayed for patience.....I'll never do that again!"

How does God mature us without allowing situations that try our patience into our lives?

Check this Scripture out:

My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4 (NRSV)

I will suggest the reason we joke about praying for patience and resist the spiritual strengthening situations put before us is because we don't know that the testing produces spiritual results. If we do know then we are not allowing or welcoming the testing.

Is it a faith issue? God can get the job done but not without our cooperation and willingness to face "trials". We need to know that He is still in control, that He wants what is best for us and will deliver. Our maturity may come through being in situations we don't particularly like.

Think about it. That thing that drives you crazy may just be the thing you need to get you where you need to be ......for God's benefit. More to come.

Have a Great Day!
