What if the Church suffered from identity crisis or poor body image? What would the Church look like?
Divided?
Competitive?
_________?
The Church in Corinth
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
1 Cor 12:14-20 (NIV)
Be the one God made you to be. Fit in the Body the way He designed you to fit. We don't need to envy one another. Instead be thankful! God can and will use you. You don't have to be someone else. You be you and let God be God. It works best this way. Trust that He knows what He's doing in His arrangement of body parts in the Church. Then body image won't be a problem and we won't feel we must improve on what God already has a handle on.
Just a thought.
