Fill the Void!

I was heart shopping today for the women in my life (wife & 2 daughters), when I ran across the saddest heart of all, a hollow chocolate one. Is that sad or what? Couldn't they fill the void with something besides air? This is to be considered cruel and unusual punishment for chocolate lovers. OK, for my oldest daughter I bought a Reese's peanut butter filled heart, for my youngest a Skittles filled heart. My wife? Well, I can't reveal it here because she reads this blog.
OK, the point is that
hearts are meant to be filled with something. Something other than air.

God made our hearts, not to be void, but to be filled with something too. Below are some fillings listed in Scripture.

Purity
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Matt 5:8 (NIV)

Humility
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matt 11:29 (NIV)

Forgiveness
"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
Matt 18:35 (NIV)

Love
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
Matt 22:37 (NIV)

Faith
"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Mark 11:22-23 (NIV)

Unity
All the believers were one in heart and mind.
Acts 4:32 (NIV)

If we work on filling our hearts with these things.....we will not only be satisfied knowing we are doing something Godly, but we will be satisfying to those around us.

Have a Great Day!
